“We get regular requests by Dutch nationals living in Europe.”
Joke Ouwehand, editor-in-chief at the municipality of Katwijk
Katwijk is one of the 81 Dutch municipalities participating in the largest cross-border and regulated electronic identification project in the world. Our municipality will start off by opening up the service of requesting extracts from the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages. Together with the Civil Services team, we agreed that this would be the best form to open up our services with. We expect that this service will be requested by European citizens and Dutch nationals living in Europe. Currently, we get regular requests from the latter category. Depending on how end users respond, we will decide if we will create a buzz around the introduction of eIDAS.
