“Don’t make it harder than it has to be, it is not very complicated”
Eltjo Smith, Webmaster of the Marum and Grootegast municipalities.
The municipalities Marum and Grootegast started the eIDAS implementation last February and are eIDAS ready since mid-June. Eltjo Smith, Webmaster of the Marum and Grootegast municipalities coordinated the implementation process. “It was easier than we expected, he tells us, “We are a small community, not burdened with excessive bureaucracy so we can conclude our business swiftly. On top of that, we received a great deal of support from SIM and Connectis. Now civilians and companies from all over Europe can apply for matters such as public administrative documents, privacy law information, extracts of personal data and they can lodge complaints. Also, foreign traveling organizations like circuses can apply for announcement permits.”
A small municipality like ours, doesn’t have a huge amount of login transactions from other European countries,” Eltjo continues. “But in the coming year, we will merge with other municipalities and become a much bigger community. We expect more business activity which will certainly increase the need for international login transactions. With the experience we gained during the recent implementation process, we are well prepared for connecting the new municipality to eIDAS. I would advise municipalities that still have to walk that mile not to make it hard on themselves. Be practical and don’t make it harder than it has to be.”
